Marsh Harbour, The Bahamas — The 2011 Abaco Open Water Swim took place this past Saturday, October 1st. It went swimmingly. With a great turnout from youth swimmers and members of the Abaco Swim Club ( ) the race took a triangular course from The Crossing Beach, to Sugar Loaf Cay and back again.

There were different events and distances for the swimmers. From a half mile leg, to the relay, to the competitive 5 K, there was competition and good will among all participants. This annual event, Saturday’s being the sixth, is anticipated each year as swimmers train hard for endurance and technique.

Sanctioned by the Bahamas Swimming Federation, the event was sponsored by The Abaco Tourist Office, Abaco Petroleum, Pinders Plumbing, & Abaco Groceries. To find out the winners and placings of the different swimmers check back later on our forums.
