PTA Art, Wine & Tapas Fundraiser
On Tuesday April 2nd the Hummingbird Cottage Art Centre in Hope Town hosted the Hope Town School PTA fundraiser whose aim was to raise money for a new playground. The theme of the evening was Art, Wine & Tapas. What more could you ask for on a gorgeous Spring afternoon?!
A collaboration of fine Artists and local Chefs brought many people to the event, which made for a successful fundraising effort. Brenda Claridge from Tupps Liquor Store in Marsh Harbour provided an array of wines to taste as well as to buy. The tapas was set up on the lawn where the blues and greens of the ocean made for a beautiful backdrop. Chef Gavin from Firefly served Crab Cakes & Tuscan Sushi. Kelly Fair & Sean Tully represented Abaco Buzz and made Caprese Skewers served with Local-Made Baguette by Pastry Chef Veronica Beauchesne to dip into a Garlic & Thyme Infused Olive Oil. Abaco Spice Chefs Tania Duncombe & Scott Alderson had an amazing display from where they served Dolphin Crudo on Plantanos with Gazpacho Granita & Cucumber Basil Juice.
The roster of featured Artists included Amos Ferguson, Jonathan Bethel, Kim Rody, Arnie Casavant, Brigitte Boyer, Alton Lowe & Walt Bartman. Talented Artists from the school also had their work on display and for sale. Guests were lucky enough to view Amos Ferguson’s largest painting ever produced that was commissioned in the 1970’s measuring 6′ x 7′ and is currently held in a private collection.
The combination of ticket sales, donations, auction items & artwork sold raised a substantial amount of money. Thank you Members of the PTA and to all that participated. A big thank you to PTA President Kerry Sullivan for hosting such a wonderful event!
